Renaissance champions in Scarborough
22 October 2007

The Looking Back, Stepping Forward conference, run by Yorkshire Forward, took place in Scarborough on 12 and 13 October 2007. It took a look-back at renaissance, reflecting on what has been achieved and looking at best practice and lessons learnt across the region.

There was an excellent turn out to the two day event not only showcased the successes of other regional Town Teams, but also gave space for Scarborough’s community to input into the towns future plans, debates, discussions and networking events.

During the dinner on the 12 October the three Fraser Teal Bursary Award winners; Richard Motley, Programme Director at Integreat Yorkshire, Mark Dale and Eddie Lodge; shared their plans on how their Fraser Teal Renaissance Bursary Award was being used to further their part in the regeneration process.

Richard will be looking at creative quarters in South East Asia; bringing lessons to be learnt back to support the regions efforts in developing its creative economy. Mark is seeking to lift the profile of Settle further by organising the first Settle Music Festival. Eddie is looking to formalise his qualifications within the regeneration sector and feed in the impact that Design has had in the EU.
