Sheffield Specials
07 January 2008

The two Sheffield Specials, sponsored by Integreat Yorkshire, organised by RIBA Yorkshire and hosted by Sheffield Society of Architects and Sheffield Civic Trust, attracted a whole host of regeneration specialists. Debates were chaired by Keiran Long, Architects Journal and Rony Robinson, BBC Sheffield on the subjects of Global V Local: can outside influences help regeneration and Urban Mediation: who is responsible for selling the city?

Integreat Yorkshire was the main sponsor of the Sheffield Specials 2007, which were a series of debates to highlight, inform and lead to a greater understanding of the issues underlying the transformation of our city.

‘It was great that the Sheffield Specials created space for debate over how places are shaped and made. Integreat Yorkshire is keen to encourage honest debate and to facilitate opportunities to reflect on the ongoing renaissance across many of our urban and rural communities and neighbourhoods. Sheffield efforts in transforming itself is well recognised and valued but equally so is its confidence in encouraging scrutiny and debate over its regeneration and future growth’

Richard Motley, Programme Director, Integreat Yorkshire.
