Local authorities, community organisations and regeneration agencies are set to benefit through the formation of a new social enterprise, IntegreatPLUS.
IntegreatPLUS has transitioned from Integreat Yorkshire - Yorkshire Forward's Centre for Regeneration, Renaissance and Place making Skills - in order to continue to support regeneration and planning departments, community organisations and other agencies in delivering their visions for urban centres, places and neighbourhoods.
It will sustain and grow the legacy of Integreat Yorkshire by housing the Yorkshire and Humber Design Review Service, and will further develop the Regen Academies across local authority areas as well as offering new delivery services.
The long-term aim of IntegreatPLUS is to support learning, skills development and expertise in a range of areas such as; place making, design enabling, design review, urban design, economic development and neighbourhood planning, and become a shared resource for the whole of Yorkshire and the Humber. It will make a vital contribution to keeping expertise and understanding alive as many local authorities lose in house regeneration and place-making capacity through deficit reduction measures and budget cuts. IntegreatPLUS will therefore continue to provide this support during the current economically challenging times.
The board and small staff team represent a valuable resource in experience and talent which would otherwise have been lost; they will encourage collaboration and act as an 'open source' to grow greater understanding in the significance of economically, culturally, socially, and environmentally better places.
“In this rapidly changing world the conservation of skills, of knowledge and of memory are key prerequisites in sustainable place making. IntegreatPLUS will assist us to keep moving forward through harnessing the important legacy of Yorkshire Forward’s work.” Irena Bauman, Director of IntegreatPLUS and co-founder of BaumanLyons Architects.
“It is great to move forward with our work. Despite these challenging times, opportunities still exist to work with communities and local authorities in shaping more resilient and sustainable economic growth in their places.” Richard Motley, Managing Director of IntegreatPLUS.
