The Renaissance Programme delivered by Yorkshire Forward across both market towns and urban towns and cities in Yorkshire and Humber is creating long term visions and practical projects to provide real change at a local level. Moving from a funding led to a strategy led approach. The Partnership Skills Programme was an inspirational opportunity for local people to set down high quality standards for the future, making vibrant and beautiful places for people to live, work and invest in the future.
At the heart of the Renaissance Programme is the Town Team, a locally based team of individuals from a wide range of interests and groups. The make up of the team varies but at its core are key local authority officers and members, partnership representation, private sector and community representatives, all of whom have the commitment, motivation and drive to champion local ownership of the programme.
Town Teams work closely with a lead specialist drawn from Yorkshire Forward's expert panel of architects, planners, urbanists, designers and economists. Together they worked to produce a Strategic Development Framework, in consultation with the wider community, setting out the vision and aspirations for investment in the local area.
Ensuring that the Town Team has the most appropriate skill set to be able to turn vision into reality is a priority in a long term strategy. Integreat Yorkshire engaged the MBED Partnership to deliver a skills programme. Working through an assigned Facilitator Town Teams were able to engage in skills development to enable them to deliver on their vision.
